How to Pack for a Ski Vacation



Ski Packing Tip One: Organise Your Baggage



If you're flying make sure you check with your airline on their luggage allowance policy. Some airlines, particularly the budget ones, have much lower checked baggage allowances, and fines for overpacking can be severe. Don't just check the weight allowance pay careful attention to the maximum dimensions allowed for each piece of luggage. This is particularly important if you're taking your own skis or snowboards. If this isn't the case you may be able to get away with packing everything into one large ski or snowboard bag. Maximise room by stuffing smaller clothing items cheap uggs for sale into your boots and folding larger clothing around your gear.



Consider taking your boots on board as hand luggage. If your baggage is delayed or lost it's relatively easy to rent skis or boards but you'll appreciate having your own boots.



Ski Packing Tip Two: Take Lots of Base Layers



On the slopes layers are your friend. Keep warm under your outerwear by building up layers of thermals and fleeces. Take several sets so they have time to dry out after each day. Limit your aprsski wear in most resorts this is pretty casual and a smart pair of jeans cheap uggs and jumper should suffice. One pair of shoes or boots should be all you'll need in the footwear department (aside from your ski or snowboard boots). Make sure they have a decent tread ski resorts can be icy.



Ski Packing Tip Three: Take Spare Gloves and Socks



A second pair of gloves is a smart move, meaning each pair has a full day to dry out. The same goes for socks. Damp gear will make you colder faster; something you want to avoid at all costs when out in the mountains. Other clothing items you may want to consider having extra sets of are scarves or neckties, hats and goggles.



Ski Packing Tip Four: Protect Helmets and Goggles



Helmets and goggles should be packed carefully to avoid knocks and scratches. Place your goggles inside your helmet and then pack clothes around it to cushion it from overzealous baggage handlers.



Ski Packing Tip Five: Don't Forget Your Sunscreen



Sunscreen and lip balm with sun protection are essential items for the slopes and can be expensive to buy in resort.



Add your usual holiday essentials to your packing list toiletries, medical supplies, credit cards, passport, tickets etc., and you're set for the slopes. Happy skiing!
